Dear Delavan Sportmen’s Club Members,
2012 is upon us and we hope to have a great year at the club. A new person on the board this year is John Koch, welcome John. Special thanks to outgoing board members, Mike Aaronson and Anthony Martello for all their time and effort put in through the past few years. As we turn the New Year, membership fees come due once again. Enclosed with this newsletter is a membership application form. We ask that ALL members, including lifetime members fill out this form and return it to the club to ensure accurate data in our mailing file. We are also using e-mail more as a way of communicating, so please be sure to include an accurate e-mail address. Membership cards will be filled out based on the information on the forms returned to us and will be available at the club. Fees remain the same as last year:
Life membership $350.00
Annual membership $35.00
Daily membership $5.00
Rifle Range $5.00 per day plus membership
With your membership card this year, you will be given four packs of raffle tickets to sell. As most of you know, the club cannot mail raffle tickets anymore, so we will be distributing them with membership cards this year as a way to increase ticket sales. Last year’s ticket sales were very poor due to the distribution limitation. The raffle will take place, as usual, on rifle sight-in day.
A major improvement was made to the rifle range this past year in the form of a concrete pad for the shooting benches to sit on as well as a concrete entry pad to the storage shed. We NEED rifle range officers, this is a serious issue. Please volunteer for a shift or two up on the range.
Club operating hours will be the same as last year; 9am-4pm on Sundays and 5pm-9pm on Tuesdays. There is no set schedule for winter hours. Please visit the website for open times during the winter. Please keep in mind that if you call the club and leave a message it may not be answered for quite some time. Send an e-mail to secretary@delavansc.com for a prompt response.
All preplanned event dates and times will be summarized on your membership cards. Information will also be available on our website: www.delavansportmensclub.com or www.delavansc.com .
Spring Trap League is coming soon. Captains meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 27th. Team sponsor fees remain at $30.00 per team. All team members must be members of the club and all fees must be paid before the spring league starts on Tuesday, April 3rd. The league will be ten weeks long and you must have three scores in by the third week for class placement purposes. After that, you need to have ten scores in by the tenth week. Dates may be altered due to inclement weather. A ten week summer league follows two weeks after the spring league ends.
Spring clean up day is Saturday, April 14th. If you can, please show up, even if for only a short time. Many hands are needed to prepare the club for the upcoming year.
This past year, the club continued its commitment to the youth program. This program has proven rewarding to all involved, kids, parents, and coaches. We will continue looking for ways to improve the
youth program to pass the sport on to future generations. We have once again applied for an NRA grant to help with the youth program. Scott Taetsch from the NRA visited our club, a positive for the future.
Safety is always a focus at our club. Please take the time to review the general safety rules posted by the flag pole, the trap and skeet fields and at the bottom of the rifle range walkway. Please be alert for your fellow shooters safety practices. Remember, everyone started out a novice at some point in time. If you see someone struggling, help them out. We all want everyone to be safe, always. One accident could hurt someone very badly and ruin our club. Think safety!
